When Mayra, a school teacher, was diagnosed with cancer, she was no longer able to work. She was awarded SSI disability and Medicaid benefits, and received extensive medical treatment for her condition. When her medical providers’ attempts to bill Medicaid were denied, Mayra was left with more than $37,000 in unpaid medical bills. Chief Justice Peggy Quince Speaks at LSGMI Staff Attorney Luncheon

On March 11, 2010, Chief Justice Peggy Quince shared an informal lunch with LSGMI staff attorneys. She spoke about her experiences working at a legal services clinic while in law school, and thanked them for the work that they do for the community. “These are the kind of people that we need in our profession,” said Quince. “They give unselfishly of their time, and we so dearly need that, especially in this kind of economy.”
