Low income people do not have to pay certain fees when filing a court case. The first step is to file a request for the fees to be waived. You will need to answer questions about your income and assets. The Clerk of Court will then decide whether you qualify as indigent. If so, the court filing fee will be completely waived and you will not have to pay anything. Some costs cannot be waived, but you can enter into a payment plan to pay them over time. Most importantly, your case cannot be delayed in any way because you have entered into a payment plan.
