“Nail, a nine-year employee, complained to a general manager and a district manager that her supervisor was sexually harassing her. Nail quit her job after she got no action on her complaint and was denied a transfer. Nail was awarded unemployment compensation benefits, but the employer appealed and the referee reversed the decision, finding that Nail’s fear of repeated harassment was “simply speculative.” LSGMI appealed, and Nail was ultimately awarded benefits because she had made reasonable efforts to preserve her employment.

On January 15-16, 2013, Oxana Cardini, Director of Finance, represented Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. at the Management Information Exchange (MIE) National Conference for Legal Services Administrators.

The Conference focused on financial management and leadership, Human Resources and other administrative functions for legal services organizations.

Ms. Cardini co-chaired the CFO Panel session and presented on efficiencies achieved with LSGMI’s timekeeping system.

The Conference took place in Jacksonville, FL jointly with the Legal Services Corporation Technology Initiative Grants (TIG) Conference.
