“LSGMI helped me get a new home.”
Edith, an elderly widow living with four grandchildren, hired a contractor to make significant home repairs to her residence of over 30 years. The work was paid for with a high-interest mortgage on the property. The contractor received $30,000 from Edith but left before the work was completed. As a result, the City found that the house was unsafe. LSGMI worked with various City agencies to have the home torn down and replaced at no cost to Edith.

LSGMI Extends Heartfelt Thanks to all of our Generous Donors
As the economy continues to slide, those requiring LSGMI’s services have reached record highs. In the first 4 months of 2010, unemployment compensation cases increased by 19%; consumer cases by 48%; and mortgage foreclosure cases by 160%.
Fortunately, members of the legal and business community and the community at-large have helped make up the deficit by supporting LSGMI’s “Together, We Must” Campaign for Justice. Through their generosity, the Campaign has raised over $850,000.00 in gifts and pledges enabling LSGMI to increase its attorney staff by 10%.
