“What greater public good is there than to help those who truly do not otherwise have access to justice. I encourage you to continue to work in your communities.”

WHAT |
With over 500,000 low income individuals and families in our community, the need for free legal services cannot be met by LSGMI staff alone. Pro bono resources are critical to supplement the work we do and to help address the many unmet legal needs. LSGMI welcomes pro bono assistance from law firms, individual attorneys, law students, and other volunteers, and provides the necessary training and mentoring to support those volunteers. We also provide malpractice insurance for our pro bono volunteers. To volunteer, click here. For more information on LSGMI's Pro Bono Projects, click below: |

WHO |
Holland & Knight Pro Bono Attorneys Improve Quality of Housing for Low-Income Residents in Overtown The residents of Town Park Village, No. 1, Inc., a low-income housing cooperative in the heart of Overtown, recently received long awaited brand new impact resistant windows. Funding for the windows had been promised by the City of Miami since June 2009. Finally, in May of 2011, loan documents between the City of Miami and Town Park were finalized and executed, and by the end of June, the property received the windows which will protect the residents during periods of rain and hurricanes. This sorely needed improvement would not have been possible without the pro bono legal assistance of Danielle Price, Doug Darbut, and Richard Perez, attorneys at the Miami office of Holland & Knight, who worked closely with Shahrzad Emami, LSGMI Affordable Housing Project Director , and the Town Park Village Board of Directors of to finalize the transaction. Many thanks to the Holland & Knight team who devoted their pro bono time to improve the quality of life for the residents of Town Park. |
